Story:
Joy is defined as a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.
Growing up, our mom always encouraged us to live with joy. It was something that her own mother had instilled in her. For our mom, growing up had a lot of ups and downs. Our grandfather was a serial entrepreneur who never knew the word quit. He started a successful bike shop only to lose it all in a fire. He then started a new kind of department store, similar to but much smaller than what Walmart is today. Unfortunately, it all came crashing down when the store was broken into and thousands of dollars of jewelry was stolen, back before there was insurance that would have covered the theft.
My grandfather had just bought his family their dream house only to have to sell it just to pay back his creditors. He was a true man of honor and his word was his bond.
No matter what happened, my grandma knew she was still blessed to be alive, to have an amazing family, and to be able to put food on the table. No matter what life did to bring them down, our grandma taught our mom to live with joy.
I still remember my grandma's favorite Sunday School song was 'Down In My Heart'. She'd sing it all the time when we'd come over or when she'd be our teacher at church. For those of you who don't know the song, here's how it goes:

That's why this Strap is dedicated not only to our mom, but also to our Grandma Veltman. Even though she's gone, the lessons, values, and most importantly, the joy she passed down are still alive through us.
