Story:
When we first started working on this design, we had come up with quite a few different names that we felt were really important to share with others. This one, in particular, was something I've wanted to give you guys for a long time. It's honestly one of the top things I think about every day and I felt like it could really be beneficial for those of you struggling to make things happen in your own lives.
When I was in my teens, I used to always talk about all the grand plans i had to anyone who would listen. I would talk about it so much that people literally started laughing at me when I’d tell them what I was planning to do. One day, that laughter bothered me so much that I decided I wasn’t going to talk about it anymore, I would just show them instead.
It changed my life.
Years later, I learned that studies have actually shown if we continually talk about our goals, our mind starts to process pleasure as though we’ve actually already achieved them. This is super dangerous as it becomes perpetual – we don’t achieve anything yet we feel a false satisfaction from merely discussing it.
We become sayers, not doers.
As weird as this may sound, In order to change your life, you have to stop talking about your goals. You have to stop with the artificial feeling of accomplishment in order to recognize that true satisfaction, when it comes to goals, is in massive action. No talking, just doing.
My hope for this Strap is that it’ll help remind you of two things:
First, that you don’t need to explain or validate yourself to anyone. Your dreams are just that: your own. Sometimes, when we meet people who are further along on their road to success, we feel like we need to tell them all the great things we’re doing. We don’t. Our actions will always speak substantially louder than our words ever could.
Secondly, I hope it helps you to remember stay grounded in the understanding that nobody wants you to be successful more than you do. You can talk til you’re blue in the face but nobody else will take action for you. If you want it, you need to go and get it yourself. That’s the difference between a sayer and a doer.
